Dr Noelia Perez-Diaz
Since I can remember I always admired scientists and wanted to become one. This drove me to study a BSc in Biochemistry at Oviedo University in Spain, my home country. Then, I decided that I wanted to learn English with Geordie accent, so I moved to Newcastle to study an MSc in Biotechnology at Northumbria University; and after I wanted to speak Kiwi so I moved to New Zealand to do an MSc in Biochemistry at the University of Otago. After my second masters I found the opportunity to join the University of Hertfordshire as a Senior Technical Officer in Biochemistry at the same time I did my PhD in Pharmacology - my research was on lung inflammation and vascular reactivity.
I joined ImmuONE as a Senior Scientist on 2020 mainly because I really believed in the project, I think the principle of the 3Rs in research is the way to go. Also, the fact that it is a very woman driven company attracted me even more. In ImmuONE I am working on the replacement of animal derived products to chemically defined products in cell culture. What I like the most about working in ImmuONE is the support, which helps me to grow as a scientist every day.
In my time off since 2019 I am learning to be a mum. Before that I enjoyed reading, travelling, crocheting, and a cold beer with friends in a terrace.
